I’ve been wondering how much substance there was to the Blue Dog opposition to Obamacare. Now I know … zero. It was obviously an song and dance for the folks back home:
The compromise would cut the cost of the $1 trillion-plus package by $100 billion, according to one member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition.
These “fiscal conservatives” dropped their feigned opposition for a paltry $100 billion in imaginary cuts! Are you kidding me? Oh yea, I forgot the other faux concession:
The deal also would ensure that the proposed government-run insurance program would not be forced on anyone.
Right. What a bunch of BS. These frauds never intended to put up a serious fight on Obamacare. At best, they were holding up the leadership for extra campaign funds for next year’s election.
Which means that those early reports about a vote delay were just so much Hot Air. And, allegedly, this phony compromise has caused a revolt by the progressive caucus:
Hours after the Blue Dog Democrats announced a deal on a scaled-back health care reform bill Wednesday, anger among liberal members threatened to derail the bill from the left.
I doubt it. This is all looking more and more like so much theater put on by the Dems for their gullible consituents to create the illusion that we still have a representative democracy.
